A key feature is its selective compression, which skips files that are already compressed. DAR supports full and differential backups, with or without binary delta, for optimal storage use. It faithfully preserves complex file system metadata, including hard links and Extended Attributes. The internal catalog allows for rapid file restoration from large, remote, or cloud-based archives (via FTP/SFTP) without needing to download the entire backup, making data recovery swift and bandwidth-efficient.
